i pretty much have the perfect job. it's flexible, good experience, looks great on a resume... not to mention it's with a "preferred employer". there's a funny story about how i got this job... a God story, really... and i'll tell it soon, though not right now. right now i'm thinking about the job that seemed to be the perfect job... the one i thought i would get... the one that got away.
that job was the perfect combination of everything i love: my faith, music, and mentoring adolescents. i applied in april, received some positive feedback in may, was told to wait till june... waited until july.... finally heard that they weren't hiring just yet, waiting till '08. alright... what's a girl to do? i prayed about it....
i have the perfect job... pretty much. it's not the job i thought i'd have. it's not the job i originally wanted, but i'd be crazy not to love this job. "crazy" not to love this employer.
still, my mind has been wondering what might have been...
saturday night, pastor dove asked if God would rather have us comfortable or obedient.
that's an uncomfortable question to ask because the answer is... obedient.
they can go together, right? but there's no guarantee.
i love my job, but it makes me uncomfortable. i love my job, because i believe it makes me obedient. i love my job, but... sometimes, it hurts.... i guess maybe that's how obedience works.
i pray for guidance. i pray for strength. i pray for what might have been. i pray for what is.

Have you heard the latest Steven Curtis Chapman song? It says something like,
"It's time for letting go,
to all of our 'if-only's',
'cause we don't have a time machine.
And even if we did,
would we really want to use it?
Would we really want to go change everything?
'Cause we are who and where and what we are, right now.
This is the only moment
we can do anything about.
So breathe it in, breathe it out,
listen to your heartbeat,
there's a wonder in the
here and now,
it's right there in front of you,
and I don't want you to miss,
the miracle of the moment..."
That song really speaks to me. I get caught up in the "if-only's" all too often. I have to remind myself to let it go, because God sees the bigger picture and I just have to trust that He is guiding me to where I need to be. Which is pretty much what you're saying, too. ;)
I know about those "what if's"..., though. They can be difficult! For what it's worth, your big sis if awfully proud of you. Not because you have the perfect job, but because you're just an awesome person, and I love ya!
Hope you have a great week!!!
