just like a dream...

recovering from a whirlwind week of playing catch-up with mc, i feel like it's important to share a little update or two. one week has never quite felt like a month and, simultaneously, an hour, quite like this past week has for me. when we're together, colors seem brighter, chocolate tastes sweeter, my cooking... well, let's just say bless his heart, he actually ate my first try at roast beef.....

he took me to see the absolute worst movie in the entire world (read: transformers*) and then pointed out that optimus prime must live in my neighborhood, as evidenced by the big rig parked around the corner... and of course, the next day, after he leaves for never-never land i'm trying to log onto a neighbor's wireless instead of plugging in to my dsl, what name is listed as a network connection? none other but, you guessed it, optimus prime.

we got lost looking for music row and then found it accidentally after spending a good share of time in the army/navy surplus store. we also got a little turned around in brentwood and ran into starbucks for a pee break frappucinno and we were NOT impressed, and no, i'm not referring to our opinion of the establishment or the product, but to the people with the air of, "i'm important. be impressed of me." and we were not. at all.

many other important things happened, some of which i have evidence for, some of which i do not. all in due time.

speaking of time, i think it's a good time to share some thoughts that have nothing to do with mc... ready for my masterful segue way?

. . . i feel a connection with birds; a fascination with flight.
so many days, i look at the sky and i imagine what it would be like to just float above the clouds on wings. i admire and identify with the poem "sympathy", not because i feel trapped, but because i feel set free. for the longest time, i felt set free in my heart, but i was not allowing myself to express that freedom. i'm not sure i could give a step-by-step account of the ordeal, but it's the basis behind these thoughts on this page...somehow, i found whatever it was i needed to step out... and i have been, so far, enjoying my wings.

missy higgins has a song on her new cd titled, "steer", which i love.
side-ramble: rosie thomas has used the phrase "if songs could be held" and i love the imagery in that. it will become apparent that i'm a nut for lyrics and quotes. i find something that speaks to me and it becomes embedded in my soul. i believe that long after i have forgotten my name and social security number, there are lyrics that will remain.
and the gist of it is this:
"the search ends here,
where the night is totally clear,
and your heart is fierce.
so, now you finally know
that you control where you go
you can steer"

i don't know if you can identify, but if you can... well, you CAN steer - the only person who can keep you from it is you.

what would you do if you weren't afraid?

*disclaimer, transformers is probably not the worst movie in the whole world to you unless, like me, you have an intense and irrational fear of alien robots, hum-v's, and big-rigs.
